After contacting two recommended local lenders who were very unresponsive, I did my research to find a well-reviewed, trusted option. First Federal came up—I'd never heard of them, was a bit hesitant, but figured I would fill out the initial form. Jeff called me almost immediately. We talked about my situation, stats, etc. and he gave me an estimated interest rate that was better than most (all?) I'd seen. I proceeded. My home search took several months, and Jeff was always very quick to respond to any updates or questions, always great to work with. I realize Jeff was incentivized to be nice, efficient, all the positives—he wanted my business, wanted my loan to go through, obviously (I'm not an idiot), but so does every other lender! It was a pleasure working with Jeff and his team—thay kept everything on track, and my loan went through incredibly smoothly. And my locked-in rate, with no points, was the best I saw in the weeks before I closed. 10/10 recommend!
